About Business Coaching

Some of the key things coaching addresses:-

  • Identify what you want to achieve by listening to the key areas you want to change until a set of goals is produced. A study of Harvard business graduates showed that after 20 years, the 3% who wrote down their goals achieved more financially than the other 97% of graduates combined.
  • Help you maintain focus on those goals, working with you to remove barriers, chart your progress and celebrate successes along the way
  • Get rid of gremlins. Many of us have little gremlins (or negative voices) on our shoulders who tell us we can’t do something because we’re not brave enough, or clever enough, or that we’re too old or not educated to the right level. Your coach will help you see your blind spots and how to overcome them.

Throughout this process, your coach will give feedback, encourage you and hold you accountable.

Some typical coaching scenarios :-

SCENARIO ONE

You are conscious of focussing more on retaining your position in these difficult times rather than career progression and a healthy work/life balance.

Here we would recommend a short program of coaching sessions which will give you time and space to take stock of what is important to you, what you want to achieve in the short and long term and how you might overcome obstacles along the way.

The first session will focus on identifying your objectives, the potential barriers and at least three ‘first steps’ which, provided you commit to, are guaranteed to produce early positive results.

Thereafter, your coach will support you during each session to maintain focus on progressing towards your goals, working together to ensure the path remains clear and the vision strong.

SCENARIO TWO

You are conscious of persistently getting dragged in to detail, rather than delegating to and developing your team to allow you to focus on strategic issues

Here we would recommend a program of coaching sessions to:-

  • Identify your vision
  • Identify the dynamics of your team, their strengths and weaknesses and how each of these strengths and weaknesses can work with you rather than against you in achieving that help you vision
  • Develop a plan which will enable you to:-
    • Articulate your vision to and obtain buy in from your team and other stakeholders
    • Work collaboratively with your team to find the best solutions
    • Facilitate for positive results
    • Manage conflict
    • Establish new processes
    • Communicate any changes effectively
    • Manage internal messages
    • Remain flexible and positive
    • Support your team through any changes
    • Ensure ongoing key business requirements remain satisfied
  • Anticipate objections and obstacles and find solutions to overcome
  • Celebrate success along the way
